After you file
Thanks for the info. For those of you searching for answers all I can say is be prepared to wait in limbo with no response whatsoever from IRS this year. Definitely don't bank on getting your money anytime soon (if ever). The IRS online tools (where's my refund and where's my stimulus) offer no updates beyond "still processing" for months and months on end with no signs of life whatsoever (use microsoft edge browser or you may not even get that far). If you try to call the IRS help line to report a lost refund or request a refund or stimulus trace (even if you use the super secret numerical code from 2019 to get a live person) you will be told "sorry we are not able to respond to these inquiries at this time due to the extreme volume of calls". Leaving your only recourse if you have a lost payment or refund to fill out form 3911 snail mail it then say a prayer. That's pretty much the end of the line in 2021 as all the old routes of getting help have been closed. I guess you could always schedule a face to face appointment with your local IRS office and good luck with the outcome of that as they will likely just drag you down there only to tell you "SORRY we have no additional information for you keep checking the online where's my refund tool LOLOLOL"
