Another option is to download the Form 1040X and instructions at the irs.gov website, as well as any other forms that change in the process, and prepare the amended return manually.
With that method you would not have to re-create the Federal return. But you will need a copy of your original return to go by.
You can do the same for a state return at the state tax agency website, if applicable.
