I made the same mistake. I checked that no one can claim me as a dependent and now my mom's return is being rejected by Turbotax. I just mailed my amend 1040 X and file Extension Form 4868 for my mom because I know it will take up to 16 weeks for 1040 X to process and my mom will definitely miss the deadline (May 17). Does it work? Or should I mail my mom's return instead of filing the extension form 4868 for her?
