After you file
No, don't file an amended return because:
- You can’t amend a return that hasn’t been filed yet.
- You can't amend a return if the original return was accepted by the IRS but does not have an adjustment which affects your refund or amount due.
Before sending in another copy of your 2019 income tax return, see if the IRS has a transcript of it.
- If the IRS has a copy, don't send in a copy.
- If the IRS doesn't have a copy, send it again but get a USPS delivery confirmation.
