After you file

Hi Critter-3.  Thx for the response.  That is my problem....I don't have the soft copy (.tax file) of the original return anymore.  The system allowed me to edit my return after I had filed my return and so the only copy/version I have in electronic format is my newly amended return.  So, I believe my options/solutions are:

1.  Take my edited return (I edited it when I realized that I needed to amend my return and I actually amended/edit it but the system thinks my original filed return) and "trick" the system to think that this is an amended return (which it truly is no) and let me file it as an amended return with updated refund due info.

2.  System allows me to edit the current version and not think that it's part of the Amend your return process.  This will allow me to just edit it back to the original filed return.  Once I edit it back to that original filed version, I can then use the system's amendment process (what you described I should do) to then file an amended return.

Thanks for  your help.
