Finally got refund but...

I filed my return through TurboTax very early on. Shortly after I filed the law changed regarding the 10.2 k taxable on employment wages. Upon going back into TurboTax I noticed my refund grew by about 1K due to the fact this was no longer taxable.

I'll make up some numbers here. TurboTax originally said I was getting 5,500 back. I electronically filed. I never received a refund. A week or two later after hearing about the law change I went back into Turbo tax to see if I needed to refile.  It said I was now entitled to a 6,500 refund. I still never received a refund. Yes there was talk about the IRS running behind and how they were handling the law change.

I finally...yesterday...got my refund... $5,000. It was neither the 5500 I originally claimed nor the 6500 that should be adjusted. How do I know exactly how they figured the $5,000? Did I have something wrong in TurboTax at the adjusted down? Does this include the extra $1,000 I was supposed to get back after the law changed?  Will they send me a letter in the mail explaining why the adjusted it down and what is included? Since I electronically filed through TurboTax is TurboTax somehow involved in explaining this to me?

Bottom line I don't know if this is my full refund and adjusted initial refund with more to follow my final refund...?
