After you file

@Sboston2 go to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript (or go their homepage and there's a link for get a transcript).

If you don't have a username and password you'll have to create one. You'll need:

  • A US address that you used to file your most recent tax return (doesn't work with foreign addresses)
  • A US issued credit card ( visa or MasterCard) (there's no charge - this is just too verify your identity)
  • A US cell phone number on which they can text you
  • I think they ask for your most recent AGI - so keep your tax records handy.
  • You'll need to answer a bunch of identity questions like "which bank is your mortgage with", etc .. - similar to if you were applying for an online credit card.

It's fairly quick.
