After you file

The IRS does not send out confirmations of receipt.   When you filed, you get an email saying the return was submitted.   Then a few hours or days later, you should have received a confirmation that the return was ACCEPTED or a notice that is was rejected.   If it was accepted, the IRS has it and is processing it.   If it was rejected, it has not been filed - it needs to be corrected and re-submitted for e-filing or filed by mail.

What is your e-file status?    @WWNMBN19

Sign in to TurboTax to check your current status. You'll find it in Tax Home after sign in.

If you used TurboTax CD/Download you can check your e-file status by opening the File menu and selecting Check E-filing status or by opening your return, selecting the File tab, and selecting the Check E-file Status header.

Keep in mind:

  • E-filing status is what stage of the process your return is in.
  • Refund status is when you can expect your refund. If that’s what you’re interested in, go to Where's My Refund?    Only accepted returns can be tracked.

What You Will Need

  • Social security number or ITIN
  • Your filing status
  • Your exact refund amount
  • Accepted tax return
