Well, 41 days later, "your return is still being processed"... The IRS may match up SSNs used in estimated tax payments on a joint return, but this matching is clearly only done manually (which puts us in the Error Resolution Department queue with millions of other returns).
As a 32 year IT specialist, it boggles my mind that the IRS tax processing programs couldn't accomplish this without human intervention. Yes, a COBOL program could easily figure this out if only they programmed it to.
