After you file
@ DarrylInLA wrote:Used downloaded TurboTax on my Windows Laptop/desktop, like I have for 20+ years.
Dates are correct, no miss-type. Filed early AM 4/15 and had IRS deposit in my account for exact amount 4/19.
I have a PDF file of my tax return, but when I click on print, nothing happens. I can open the PDF, I can view the PDF, I can see the PDF on my laptop, but when clicking PRINT, nothing happens.
The only thing different is I had a Windows update on my laptop between 4/15 and 4/19.
So I am trying to print my PDF tax return after filing and being paid by IRS. I owe the State, and that payment hasn't happened yet.
Wow, that is fast. Normally it takes a few days longer in the best of circumstances. And your 4 days included a weekend. Yours must have arrived just under the wire for the next batch of ACH submissions.
Are you able to print other kinds of documents OK, like a text file or a Word doc?
Can you print other PDFs you have on your computer? Or is your PDF reader having a problem only with TurboTax PDFs? Did you test a 2019 TurboTax PDF?
After you saved the PDF file, what PDF viewer are you using to open and view it? Are you using Adobe Reader, another "brand" of PDF viewer, opening it in a browser window, or what?
You said "laptop/desktop". Have you tried printing the PDF from both of them? Can you print the PDF when it's on the desktop computer, but not from the laptop that had the Windows update?
Try printing from the Print Center this way:
- Launch TurboTax and open your return.
- Then way up in the top TurboTax menubar at the top right click on Print Center.
- In the popup window, choose what set of forms you want to print.
- Then click the blue button that says "Preview Print Copy."
- That will open a temporary PDF window. It will use your default PDF reader.
- See if you can print from that temporary PDF while it is open.
If you can't print from that temporary PDF, then try this:
- Make a new instance of the PDF by using the Print Center method above but choosing "Save as PDF."
- Using your PDF reader can you print from the new instance of the PDF?
- If not, and if you've been using a PDF reader like Adobe, then try to open the new PDF with your browser instead of a PDF reader. Here's how:
- Right-click the saved PDF file and then choose "Open with", then choose a browser.
- Then try to print from the browser. Try just a single sample page first, since the formatting may not be set right.
Or here's something else one might try in a pinch, but if you're not even getting a printer dialog box, then this won't help.
- Open the new PDF and choose to print.
- Do you even get a printer dialog box? If not, then you can't do the rest of this.
- If you do get the printer dialog box, choose the Advanced button, then in the next popup place a checkmark for "Print as image".
- Then back at the main printer dialog adjust any settings, like which page to print, etc.
- Then print your sample page. Does "print as image" work?
- After that test you can go back to the Advanced button and remove the checkmark from "Print as image", or that choice might remain checked for all your future printing.
