After you file

@kleimanr  Naaaah. Nu-Uh. That's bull**bleep**. At this point, it'll be much quicker if you just go ahead and amend your return and correct line 30.

Those of us that filed and had line 30 screwed up by TT's glitchy software, back in early February, were told to wait it out and let the IRS correct it. Well, I've been waiting since 2/13 and my return is "still being processed".

I recently discovered some information shared on a public forum by a guy that was able to reach an agent at the IRS that provided him ALL kinds of information. For example, if you were to leave your return to the IRS to let them correct the error, your return takes anywhere from 1 - 3 weeks for normal processing time as it is. Once the IRS catches the error, your return gets sent to the "errors and corrections" department. The main branch of the IRS has NO WAY of contacting the E&C department other than a written request, the E&C department can take up to 10 weeks to even process the request to see what's holding up your return, but it could also take longer. Even if they were to respond to the request in 10 weeks it would simply state that the return is still being corrected and to wait for ANOTHER 10 weeks for a letter to be mailed to you (which could take anywhere from 2-10 days to be delivered depending on your location) that informs you of any or if any changes have been made to your return and to keep checking the Portal for a direct deposit date and more information.

There are still people waiting for their return and the very first stimulus check from 2020 that STILL have not been sent by the IRS.

So yeah, if I were you, I would amend. It may take longer than regular filing but I promise you, once that line 30 error gets caught, you'll be waiting ALL year for your return.
