After you file
Just spoke to the GA tax office after waiting 2 months for my refund, and they let me know that direct deposits are held up if there are any changes of address filed with the post office in the last year.
In my case, my ex forwarded his mail after our divorce last year and even though it was an individual forward and not a household forward, it screwed up my individual refund from being issued because unfortunately the state still views us as being connected. Therefore, when they try to fact check my address they now see his new address in addition to my current, unchanged address so they hold the payment as it's deemed potential fraud. Now I need to work with the investigation team at GA DOR to prove that I still live in this house. Sigh.
Figured this may help some folks on here looking for some answers, and as an FYI the rep was extremely nice and very helpful, and I only waited about 20 minutes to get a live human.
