After you file
If you are able to claim her as your dependent, then you would probably enter the form 1098-T on your tax return to see if you qualify for an education credit. The only reason she would enter it on her tax return would be if the scholarship income reported on it was more then her qualifying education expenses.
If you need to enter the form 1098-T on your tax return, you will see an option in TurboTax, on your home page when you log in, to Amend/Change your tax return already filed. Just follow the instructions to get the amend return started, then use these menu tabs to enter the form 1098-T in TurboTax:
- Deductions and credits
- Education
- Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T)
