After you file

I would be PERFECTLY content knowing that my return is correct and waiting longer for the return.  How could we go about finding that out?

You cannot "find that out". The return you filed with either be accepted or rejected; there will be no indication from the IRS as to whether your return is "correct".

If you e-filed and have not received a refund within the typical period of time, it could be that the return was pulled for further examination (but not necessarily an audit).

There are taxpayers who are still waiting for refunds from returns they filed for the 2019 tax year.
