After you file
You do not need to report your federal tax refund on your federal return.
Federal tax paid is not deductible on the federal return, so federal tax refunds are not reportable as income.
However, there are a few states (very few) that permit the deduction of federal income tax paid; it is possible that this may affect your prior year state return or your current year state return.
