Update number 2:
TurboTax support contacted me this morning and said that I can correct this issue on the desktop 2019 amendment version, but not in the online version.
They had me download and install the 2019 Amend desktop version, including the tax forms.
To fix the issue with the $20,000 entry, they had me open the Pension/Annuities/IRAs Worksheet form and check the Qualifies for government exclusion box (see the following);
Checking the box above removes the $20,000 entry.
I would think TurboTax will eventually fix this issue on the online version.
Be careful there was another issue found with both the online and desktop versions of the application where instead of populating a line with the amount of the total New York distribution from box 1, the application instead populated the line with the taxable amount from box 2a. You will need to fixed this entry manually on the desktop version. to see this issues online is shows up at the Pension Deduction Summary, see the following example below which I highlighted in red. In the following, the entry in red below, is the taxable amount box 2a, not the gross amount box 1 of the 1099R;

Last but not least, the 2019 amendment software version only allows you to eFile the State amendment, but not the Federal amendment, even though the Fed's are now accepting eFiling amendments for both 2019 and 2020. See the following link;

I will wait until TurboTax address the Fed's issue above which will allow me to eFive my amendment.is issues
For eight years I have used TurboTax online without any issues, but with the issues concerning our New York State pension exclusion this year, it makes you wonder what happened to this company and their products, both the desktop and online versions of TurboTax!
Hopefully TurboTax will correct these issues on both the online and desktop versions, which should help in restoring our confidence in using there product in next year!
Regards,
Ray
