never sent in my rejected return, do I send the original return or the amended return?
So I have quite a bit of a situation going on,
I e-filed my taxes a month ago through turbotax and it got immediately rejected. The issue being that my date of birth does not match the one in IRS files. I went ahead and contacted social security services and sent the form and birth certificate they needed to fix my DOB. Meanwhile, I was able to print out my return from turbo tax (I came across a forum here that couple people mentioned they would just send it through mail having the same issue). I never sent the printed out return though I just held onto it, but I guess printing it out menat finalizing my return even though it was rejected. I then received a mail from SSS confirming that my DOB is now corrected. Now, I am trying to file my taxes I amended as it was the only option left while having received the 1098 forms that I missed adding on the original return.
I have not sent any returns via mail so far. I still have the printed out original return, and I have also downloaded the new amended return. My amended return says $0 and has listed much higher gross income. There is however an amount of money on number 18 on my amend form. I paid partially less than half the educational expenses this year. I also never received the first two stimulus checks (was filed as a dependent up until this year)
I am not sure what I'm supposed to do right now. Do I send my original return that was missing the 1098 form information? Do I send the amended one? Do I send both?
