After you file

I have not replied for some time.  I had the same issue and it took awhile but I was able to get through to the IRS.  I was told that my refund was in the review department.  I wasn't being audited they told me.  The IRS had 8 weeks from the time I was accepted until I would be able to call again.  In the 8 week time frame I would either get my refund or get a letter stating they need some from me.  They were basically checking my refund for errors or that my 1099's and my deductions made sense.  I also discovered that the status tool is a bit delayed.  I received my refund on Wednesday and the status til said it was being processed and I would have a date when available.  It still said that for 2 days.  It then changed to approved and had a refund date of the 29th.  When in the review department it doesn't mean it won't turn into an audit.  I believe the main hold up was in fact the stimulus rebate system.  Some people that didn't get their stimulus and used the rebate while filing taxes could of had a check mailed out already to a wrong address or deposited to a closed account.  The IRS has to verify that people were unintentionally "double dipping".  I hope this might of helped or at least provided some insight to the many that have this status.
