So, TurboTax Premier CD/Mac doesn't seem to work when trying to amend when following TurboTax instructions.
Following steps from TurboTax Help [https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-return/01/27439] which doesn't allow any questions.
- Make sure you’ve mailed your original return and that you’ve either received your refund or the IRS has taken payment out of your account. (The IRS will only accept a 1040X, or amended return, if your original 1040 was accepted.) -- DONE. Refund RECEIVED.
- Open TurboTax. -- DONE.
- Select Amend a filed return. -- DONE.
- Select the return you want to amend, and follow the instructions to make your changes. -- NEVER GIVEN CHOICE.
- Now, make an "amend" copy your return by selecting Save As (Mac: select Duplicate) from the File menu. This preserves the originally-filed return. -- DON'T GET CHOICE, JUST STARTS AMENDING EMPTY RETURN.
I deleted the rest of the steps since it is breaking at STEP 2. Any ideas? Help? If I try to open the return to be amended I can never get the "WELCOME" page which includes the amend a return command, and I can't find Form 1040X if I have the return open.
Is TurboTax Premier CD/Mac broken, or am I missing something painfully obvious?
