After you file

I am sure Line 30 was a problem. There is a little "Details" box on "Where's My Refund" that gives information about the Recovery Rebate Credit. Bingo! That is why they stopped the refund process and did some extra review and reduced the amount of the refund TT said I was getting.

True, others are also experiencing delays. Many others are receiving their refunds in record fast times. I do not want to speculate if people who got a speedy refund also had errors on Line 30. My guess is that their returns were actually properly prepared and they moved through the IRS system without delay... Accuracy is everything when dealing with the IRS.

I woke up to an email from TT saying that my Refund is On the Way! Yay! But first it is going to hit inTuit's partner, TPG, to strip the $120 processing fee from my already reduced tax return. TPG is the partner responsible for collecting fees and processing the final Direct Deposit to your bank. No matter what - TT makes sure they get every penny due. The email I received stated that I can start checking my bank balance as early as tomorrow.

As soon as my stripped down refund is in my bank, I will follow up with TT Customer Service and see if the promise to refund my filing fees are true. If TT refunds my filing fees I will be whole. I will never have the satisfaction of TT admitting they made a mistake, but sometimes you just have to be satisfied with a victory. I'm sure I will end up with the standard response, "We want our customers to be happy!"
