Amending State Return Due to Residency Error
I remotely worked with a Maryland-based company for 3 months of 2020. During this time, I was a part-time resident of DC. I lived in DC for a total of 8 months of 2020, then I moved to Florida. On my Maryland non-resident tax return (505), I put that I was resident of DC. According to DC residency status, I was officially only considered a part-time DC resident for 2020.
Because I put that I was a DC resident, and because of my 2020 income, I did not owe any taxes to Maryland for 2020. I'm worried that I should have actually put FL as my residency, since that is where I resided as of the last date of the 2020 tax year.
My 2020 Maryland non-resident tax return has been accepted already. Should I file an amendment (505X) to my Maryland non-resident tax return? If so, is this something I can do through TurboTax, or should I file it myself?
