Made a mistake on my filed return. Can I prevent the IRS from Deducting from my bank account
I e-filed my 2020 return (federal and CA state). I ended up owing for taxes to both federal and state. However, after I filed, I discovered a mistake. After correcting the mistake, I no longer owed money. They owe me. However, I set up for the IRS and CA to automatically deduct the incorrect taxes owed electronically from my bank account on 4/15/2021. I'm trying to file an amended return on Turbo Tax but I keep getting the message that the IRS is not ready for 2020 amended returns. I'm trying to avoid having them deduct from my checking account, since it's VERY difficult to get money back from them once they've taken it. So, my question is: would there be trouble for me from the IRS if I block them from deducting the amount that has been set up for automatic deduction? My credit union can block them if I request it. I will file an amended return when I am allowed to. Please help. Thanks
