I had my 2017 taxes amended using the 1040x after receiving a CP2000 form. My tax person faxed everything February 2020. IRS never received it even though I have fax confirmation. I re-sent everything February 2021 per IRS agent instructions via same fax. This time to "Reconsideration Unit" They have not received it yet. My entire tax refund was just taken by the IRS. How do I fix this? I've faxed the CP2000 letter with the amended 1040X twice. I'm at a loss for words. After I asked if everything should've been mailed, my tax person told me it was ok to fax everything because we were responding to the CP2000 letter even though she included the 1040X in the fax. Should this have been mailed instead? Is that why they haven't received it for over a year?
