After you file
If you aren't filing taxes in 2020, you will need to check with the IRS to find out where your second stimulus payment is. Here is a TurboTax article that explains how.
If you are going to file a tax return, then to receive your stimulus payment, you can file your 2020 tax return with TurboTax. At the end of the interview, the software prompts you about your stimulus payment. If you did not receive one, it will factor in as a credit and you will receive a refund. It's called the Recovery Rebate Credit.
Turbo Tax does not issue refunds; it transfers information to Federal and State taxing authorities, who in turn issue or collect money from taxpayers (TurboTax customers). If you did not receive the stimulus payment due to you from the IRS, your 2020 TurboTax return "stimulus credit" should kick the payment into action.
To get to the Recovery Rebate Credit section of your return, use the Search function and type in “stimulus”. You will see a “jump to” link at the top of the search results. By selecting this option, you can get to the RRC section quickly.
