I need help in regards to the new addition to the child tax credit that was increased on Saturday. I already filed. How do I get that? Calling TT was not helpful.

When I called TurboTax and got someone he put me on hold and then sent an automated message for people who are self-employed, which I am not. It’s very frustrating to Wait for a callback for 20 minutes on my lunch break only to get misinformation. Can someone please tell me How to increase and the child tax credit passed on Saturday can be obtained for those of us who have already filed? Will it be sent automatically or do I need to amend my tax return? And if so what form do I use and how do I do it? Thank you!

Sorry but you are misinformed.   The increased child tax credit passed in the House of Representatives and is now being debated in the Senate.   It is not a law yet.   When and if it becomes a law we will find out how and when it will be implemented.

While this has been in discussions, the full Congress has not yet enacted an increased CTC.   Nothing can happen until it does, the President signs the bill,  and the IRS implements and communicates procedures for handling it.  It might not even involve the IRS, and we don't know yet if it is even retroactive to 2020.
