After you file

Simply create and a tax return and select the Filing Status of Married Filing Separately.  If today is very close to the filing deadline, file for an Automatic Extension, which delays the filing date only.  You still have to pay by 4/15! I would also ensure that your husband is filing with the same Filing Status of Married Filing Separately, or you could have problems straightening out the confusion with the IRS.  It would almost certainly trigger a letter from them asking for clarification.  That could lead to an Audit in the worst situation.  At the very least, an Amended Return would have to filed by one or both of you two.
