After you file

I just spoke with a turbo tax representative over the phone in regards to me possibly being billed for the TT service despite the fact that I refiled with a different service.

I was told this:

The IRS is not going to allow duplicate returns.

If you refile with another tax service and your return is accepted and THEN Turbo Tax comes back with a rejection or resolution steps to refile your return so that errors can be fixed (allowing it to go thru properly and to be accepted), you can simply ignore the turbo tax request to refile. They cannot refile your return without your permission. They cannot submit a return if you've already had your return accepted by another company. And if you do not follow thru on completing the filing process, they cannot bill you.

I want to be clear that I cannot advise anyone what to do. I am not telling anyone what to do. This is simply what I have done and what I was told by a turbo tax specialist.

I refiled with another tax service last night and both my federal and state returns have been accepted.

Yesterday, I received a notice from the VP of  Turbo Tax promising that an email with a return rejection or steps to resolution should be sent to me by the end of this week.  After 12 days of waiting, I just simply could not continue to wait on TT to get it together on their end. They did not hold up their end of the deal and I have been stuck for 12 days because of issues with their software or coding or filing system or whatever the actual issue is. If and when I receive that email at the end of the week, I will just ignore it and refuse to continue the process with Turbo Tax. They cannot bill me for what has not been correctly filed or received by the IRS.

This is not an IRS issue. This is not an issue of backlogged returns. (Proven by the fact that so many have refiled with other tax platforms and been accepted very quickly.) This a TT issue. It would be nice if they could have the respect for their customers to come out and say it, explain it, and remedy the situation in an acceptable amount of time. 12 days of just waiting for them to correct errors on their end is unacceptable. And they want me to wait another 5 days?

No thanks.
