Why can't I E-File a 2019 amended return when the IRS and Turbotax chatbot say I can?
I need to amend my 2019 taxes and I was about to print them out when I decided to check one more time by asking the chatbot...which told me I *can* e-file amended tax returns for 2019. The IRS agrees: "If you need to amend your 2019 or 2020 Forms 1040 or 1040-SR you can now file the Form 1040- X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return electronically using available tax software products."
So is there a reason I have to file manually?
This is an issue because the error in 2019 is causing me to have my 2020 be rejected. If I can e-file I can save a few days of processing time.
