I can only add that in the past there have been many taxpayers that appear to have double entries that can be traced back to a user error that the tax payer entered an estimated tax payment as an extension payment then realized the error and entered it in the correct place without going back and removing the incorrect entry (they might not have even realize that they entered it wrong since it did not show up were they expected it). That results in the payment appearing to be a double payment.
