After you file

Today marks the 63rd day since my return was accepted on 07/01/2020. The IRS "Refund Status Results" still shows processing.

 

Since day 55 I have called at completely different hours almost every day and jumped through the exact hoop of menus listed here. Every time, after the last step, it tries to transfer me to a real person and then apologizes b/c due to high call volume they're unable to connect me, try again later or the next business day, and then automatically hangs up.

 

To anyone reading this, don't waste your time calling - just sit tight and check the website periodically; it's updated nightly so checking more frequently than once per day is pointless. Also, be sure to check your paper mail periodically in case the IRS tries to contact you about an issue with your return.
