After you file
filing by mail an amended return before the first return was processed was a mistake. in addition from about March to some time in July the IRS was not processing paper returns. it just recently started processing them again but being understaffed, it will be a while. At this point do not send in a second copy of your amended return.
When you file a Form 1040X, or Amended Tax Return, you must mail it in for processing. According to the IRS website, it may take up to three weeks (this is before the IRS stopped processing paper returns) for the document to appear in their system. You can use the Where's My Amended Return tool (which is updated every 24 hours) or call 1-866-464-2050 to check the status. Keep in mind it could take up to 16 weeks from the date of receipt for the IRS to process your return and issue your refund via paper check or direct deposit.

Quite honestly, at this point in time, even the IRS can't say for sure when they'll get to amended returns filed in March. they must be manually processed and the original return has to be in the system. As a pure guess, it may be 4 - 8 weeks from now. then up to another 16 weeks before you get your refund.
it is not only amended returns that were paper filed but many 1040s and other returns were also mailed in. the IRS does say it will process in the order received.
keep checking, that's about all that can be done
