After you file
Was a TurboTax representative able to confirm that your tax return was e-filed and accepted by the IRS? It sounds as if that may have been what the representative that you spoke with initially was confirming.
Once that occurs, the return and all communication are handed off to the IRS - TurboTax doesn't get (and cannot get) updates about the status of your refund, once your tax return has been filed. We can only confirm if it was accepted, and troubleshoot if there are problems sending the return.
You can also check the status of your refund here: Where's My Refund? If your return still shows as Processing, this is an issue related to IRS department closures and staffing issues in most cases. From that point forward, only the IRS has any control over the return and the processing.
Also, the only source for additional information at this point is the IRS - so if your return has been accepted and is still processing please do not pay to upgrade your TurboTax product, as there isn't any additional information that we will be able to provide. You will need to speak with the IRS, and support options there are still limited. However, it appears that employees are beginning to return to work in phases at this time.
I am sorry for your frustration as well as the added stresses you are now facing. I hope it all works itself out for you very soon.
