IRS has had my tax return since January 27. They sent me a letter in February that they needed to further process my return. Then the end of march another letter they needed an additional 60 days on top of what they already had. I qualified for EITC had only one dependent this year and received partial credit of something for my oldest. There were 2 W2's and I made less than 30k. Now I did receive my stimulus. Which I didnt care about. I want my return.
It's now May 25th still no return and the status is still the same. Turbo tax charged my account 90.00. When I had agreed to have it taken from my return. Which they should have honored their end so I'm quite pissed about that. I better not get charged twice. They better not take anything from my refund if it ever comes back. I did call Turbo Tax for help on why my return was being held up. At first no one had an answer. Then the 3rd person said it was because of the EITC that there were a lot of people in the same boat. Why the hell would the government allow you to qualify for such a credit and then hold your refund? And what I dont get is they send you a freaking letter to tell you this. You cant call them. But I dont need to do anything unless they contact me. Its bull. You're going to tell me these tax professional cant review a refund in 21 days? Maybe they are in the wrong line of work. If there are any mistakes on my return I'm holding turbo tax accountable for it. This was not the year I needed this to happen. I am behind on everything and if I dont get my rent paid soon I will be homeless. You would think I had made a million freaking dollars. This is the most ridiculous situation ever. I cant believe they have time to process stimulus but they cant process returns. Unacceptable.
