After you file
I spoke with irs my return has been held since March for review. The department that handles reviews are just coming back into the office.
Basically I was told the irs has been closed since March 23rd .
Per the irs website 21 days after refund was accepted is normal turn around for uncomplicated returns. However with covaid and stay at home orders most of the irs is furloughed . which adds further delays to processing
I found this site helpful

The other aspect that was conveyed from irs no paper returns are being processed right now since no one has been in office to work the mail.
On the irs website they have stimulus information.
It was also mentioned that the later people filed you will see more delays.
If you did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes you needed to go on irs website to put in direct deposit information. Anybody who is not doing direct deposit will likely not see stimulus refund for more than 5 months.
I would say other resources like unemployment etc might help with paying mortgage.
I have learned years prior I never count on irs refund until they confirm the date. Any factors can change it. This is also why they have been saying for years you should break even with irs they dont owe you and you dont owe them. They were working on changing the withholding to basically align with breaking even.
