After you file

I think a lot of the frustration with Turbotax is that they are charging fees for a service/product we've ordered and still have not gotten. And yes, Turbotax is a service that we use independently, but they have ways to figure out how to get people to accept paying a fee (although there are completely free ways to file). And in normal situations I personally didn't care to pay a fee if it came out of the refund. However, while covid has been going on and and our refunds are delayed, nothing slowed Turbotax down to collect their fee for something we are still waiting for, making a bad situation even worse. I can't say that it is only Turbotax customers getting this delay, but it is suspicious. Is it possible that people using TT are more likely being affected by or committing tax fraud and therefore the customers being put under review more often? Is there something within the transmission of our information from Turbotax to the IRS that is creating a red flag? We can't help but wonder and feel this way when it seems like everyone around us using different products aren't having any issues.

Also, people were expecting their refunds around the date Turbotax told them they should (it has been near 4 months after that date for some of us). But Turbotax also doesn't mention that for people claiming EIC or CTC that their refunds are going to automatically be delayed.

Anyway....

As far as getting in touch with a local tax advocate or the irs, I haven't had any luck and I try almost every day. I keep getting the same messages then the line disconnects from their end.
