After you file
Unfortunately, the IRS is the only one that knows the status of your return, and they have temporarily suspended the processing of paper-filed and manually reviewed tax returns. You will need to contact them when they resume operations which will hopefully be soon.
Electronic returns are being processed and it is the paper returns that are on hold. However, if your return is ''still being processed'' and shows Topic 152, they are reviewing something on your return which has to be done manually. So, it is very unlikely that anything will change on the IRS site before they resume operations.
Once it is accepted, only the IRS can provide you information on the timing aspect - so then we are back to them not taking calls.

@Johnnieula
For stimulus payments, keep checking Get My Payment as it is updated daily. The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.
