After you file
I have updated the DD in mid of April and getting the message that" youare eligible for the payment. Once we have your payment date, we will update this page.” .
I found an article on Virginia PUA, https://www.13newsnow.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/vec-early-payment-mistake-puts-pua-... which is discussing that
The agency paid many unemployed workers too much, too quickly. Now it's withholding the next $1200 in federal benefits to make up for the error.
I also received an email confirming the error.
" receiving this message it is because you were paid the PUA weekly benefit amount of $1??.00 for the week ending March 21, 2020 or the week ending March 28, 2020 and possibly both weeks. In error, you also received $600.00 in FPUC payments for one or both weeks. The VEC wants to acknowledge this agency mistake and advise that we will recoup this money by offsetting FPUC payments for the week ending May 9, 2020 and May 16, 2020 as necessary"
Conclusion:
It seems the IRS is holding the stimulus checks where they think they have already made mistakes like mentioned above or they want to make sure that if beneficiary is cleared to get the stimulus check with respect to tax return, due payments, child support or any other liability.
