There are a lot of posts to sort through.. most not helpful. I posted that what worked for me was when it asked for taxes owed/refunded I only entered federal. Don't include dollar signs nor decimals nor commas. I also did all caps. Not sure if that matters though. I completely understand your frustrations. Hope it works out for you soon.
