I'm afraid your assumption is incorrect. The "Get My Payment" app is finally active, and when I went there to check on my status, it said I am eligible for the payment, but that the IRS does not have my direct deposit information. On the "Bank Account Information" page, under "Additional Verification Information," it says "Did you receive a refund or did you owe money?" Then there is a selection button for each answer. You must select one or the other, or an error stops you on that page and your banking information is not accepted. But in my case, I neither received a refund nor owed money. Clearly a bug in the software. (Curiously, entering 0 in the box after "Refund amount or amount you owed" is accepted.) Anyway, I don't want to wait for snail mail, or worse wait indefinitely until a live person decides to drop by the IRS to see if it's still there and notices my problem. So what can I do?
