I don't know if the 3 year timer runs out tomorrow or July 15 since the due date has been extended.
Usually you should never amend an amended return until the first amended has been fully processed or there can be extensive delays, but because amended returns normally take about 4 months to process and currently the IRS is not even opening mail because processing centers are all but shut down due to the Corona virus, it would probably be best to mail the corrected amended return certified with return receipt before the 3 year date. Your certified mail receipt will be your only proof of timely filing that the IRS will accept if the return gets lost in the shuffle.
