After you file

So, I just got off the phone with a turbo tax rep.  I asked about my specific situation.  I filed my 2019 tax return with TurboTax and elected to have the filing fees taken out of my refund instead paying the day of filing.  I also accepted a refund advance loan from TurboTax.
The 1040 form that TurboTax sent to me shows the turbo tax card green dot bank info.  But the tax form TurboTax submitted to the IRS is bank account info to Santa Barbara for the purpose of deducting the filing fees and the refund advance loan.
The IRS is going to attempt to send the stimulus payment to the Santa Barbara bank, but that account was meant to be temporary and is closed by now.  So the payment is going to be sent back to the IRS and will not be sent to the TurboTax card because the IRS does not have that information.

In order to avoid waiting on a paper check , the rep suggested I update my direct deposit info on the IRS website and hopefully receive the stimulus direct deposit in the second wave of payments the government is going to make.  I don’t know when the second wave will be.  And this was no guarantee that I wouldn’t still have to wait for a paper check.

It’s appalling how horribly TurboTax has handled this situation.  There are hundreds of their customers who are expecting their much needed stimulus payments on their TurboTax cards only to come to the realization that they may have to wait for a paper check if they do not update direct deposit info with the irs.  I have used TurboTax for 10 years.  I will not be using them again.  None of my family or friends.  TurboTax dropped the ball in this one and left their customers hanging.
