After you file
I do not work for TT ... I am just a responder on this PUBLIC forum and my style is a bit dry. I tend to "give it to you straight" as I try to respond to hundreds of these posts a day.
It is not Intuit's fault the warning emails went to spam ... that is on you. I would think that TT emails would be important enough to keep them out of the spam box. When you verified the email prior to filing (code was sent) you would have known it went to spam and at that point you should have corrected that situation right away.
It is unfortunate that we also have this virus issue at the same time but Intuit is not to blame for this situation either and if you had simply called timely they would have been accommodating and delayed the debit.
I did give you some information that TT would not ... the link for the IRS FREE FILE may be a better option if you qualify to avoid any DIY program fees.
I am not a fan of this refund processing situation ( and we do not allow them in my private practice) but they have been around as long as electronic filing and DIY programs. Using the BANK service is a legal contract and should be reviewed carefully before signing. The fees were not hidden and all the paperwork you signed was available for review not only at the time you signed but as part of the PDF you are encouraged to read before you file.
In short ... when you use a DIY program to complete your own return and you sign legal contracts then you have to take responsibility for your own actions. You cannot blame the bank for doing exactly what the contract told them they could do if your refund did not show in in a timely manner. And if you had used any other DIY company and choose the refund processing option you would have been in the same boat ... so you really cannot blame TT on this. Remember the FREE FILE option next year.
