After you file
While it is true that you won't get a stimulus check if you are claimed as a dependent on someone's tax return, it is less clear how that works if you said you could be claimed but weren't actually claimed.
It would not do any harm to file the amended return however, so I would suggest you do so, unless you aren't in a hurry to get the check. You could wait to see if you get a check before doing the amendment, as you will still have time to submit it later on.
