Father died in 2018, received 1099-c in 2019 - how do i file it on his behalf? i found a partial answer, but can't find form 1041? what do i need to print and mail?
I filed for him and his widow last year. this year, she is single filing, and she isn't obligated to deal with his debt (checked already). found an answer from 2016, but references a form not available this year. also, that answer doesn't actually list what needs to be sent to irs.
current program isn't really picking up on the fact he's dead. i've reported the 1099-c, the cancelled debt/insolvency form, and the form 982. do i just print these three off and mail them away or do i need something in place of the 1041?
