I e-filed my federal tax return but on Filing Instruction sheet it said to mail in form 8453 along with form 8949. Wasn't form 8949 part of the e-file? When I printed out my return 8949 was included. The email I received from TurboTax verifing that my tax return was acepted noted: You're officially finished filing your federal taxes.
To me that means I don't need to send in 8949. In my 16+ years of using TurboTax I have never had to do this.
