These tax refunds are from the state. This year the state took my whole return to pay back taxes i owed in 2018 which turbotax said i wouldnt owe anything. When i asked the department of revenue what happened they said turbotax had missed a line item and that is what caused the adjustment that caused me to then owe money. Turbotax has a guarantee that if i end up paying the IRS or state they would cover the cost but since i used the free version i cannot speak to a live specialist to resolve this issue.
