I filed an electronic extension request for my personal 2018 federal and state taxes using forms 4868. I received a confirmation from TurboxTax that my extension request had been submitted and another confirmation that my extension request was approved/accepted.
The IRS is telling me they have no record that the extension request was received, and now I am subject to additional filing penalties. Does the IRS provide a confirmation number to TurboTax for a specific extension request? How can I provide proof that my extension request was approved?
