After you file
There are many reasons for tax returns to take longer than the more normal 21 days. For example, if you had EIC or additional child tax credit, the IRS says to not expect your refund before Feb. 27 at the earliest. You must track the status on the IRS web site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds
