My experience was that it taking longer than 48 hours meant it was going to be rejected if it didn't fall into a clear category that was going to be held (such as when you file in January before the IRS opens). Basically what I think goes on is that TT uses our rejected returns to figure out the errors in their coding and then eventually gets around to correcting them. It took me three submissions for acceptance. I changed absolutely nothing between the 2nd and 3rd try, but it was accepted the 3rd time b/c they fixed the bug on their side. When the third one went through, it processed within a few hours like it has every prior year.
