After you file
There is a service called "Where's my refund" through the IRS www.irs.gov/refunds. Enter your SSN, filing status and the amount of your federal refund. It will tell you the status of your refund, if there are delays personal to your refund and once the refund amount is accepted it will give you a date. You can check back every 24 hours to look for updates. Note that this year they won't release any refunds with EIC or child tax credit until at least 2/15/2017. As for the date you filed, it should be on your summery page. If not download your tax return and take a look at the bottom line of the tax form. The day you filed will be on the date line next to your electronic signature. I hope this helps.
